Tess studied at Bath Academy before going on to complete an MA in Fine Art and later a postgraduate in Art History as well as other academic research. During her career, Tess has received major awards from the Arts Council and from the Princes Trust, presenting her work in galleries, public art sites and conferences.
The work has evolved from her early career of figurative painting, through to digital projects and published papers whilst always maintaining a love of drawing and nature. The subjects are inspired by journeys to remote landscapes where Tess documents through drawing, painting and photography. In the studio, the paintings are worked and reworked to achieve a timeless luminosity that only the process of oil painting can achieve. These works reveal their light, energy and motion with an uncompromising soulfulness.
